BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED @ 9:15 AM ON FEB 2ND 2018

Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems

1/31/18

Due to main break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Orange County Water Control Improvement District #2 public water system (West Orange) to notify customers on Irving, Houston & Bowie to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Jason Lawson or April Lombardo at 409-883-4003.

(*REQUIRED BY LAW)

After hearing concerns from our customers, and analyzing the situation, we feel that the course of action that we took was exactly what is required by state law, but we feel that it could be better.

We are currently looking into mass notification systems that will allow us to contact everyone directly, via many different sources (home phone, text, email, etc) We understand not everyone has social media, computers, or televisions.

A phone system will allow us to contact you immediately for any of the following situations:

  1. Boil water notices

  2. Hydrant flushing

  3. Water main breaks

  4. Cut-offs

  5. Reminders

This phone system will not add any cost to you as the customer but will require your assistance to help us use it to its fullest potential. We will need up to date contact information from each home owner  and renter so we can properly contact you for future events.

Please call the office 883-4003 or email the information to april@ocwcid2.com as soon as possible to update the following information so that we are able to contact when an emergency arises:

           ●  Home Phone                   ●Cell Phone                     ● Email Address

Thank you,

Jason Lawson
